For my first blog post I'd like to ease everyone in with a visual exploration into just some of the ways Converse footwear has influenced individuals. From architecture, structures, films and literature, the Converse cultural foot print steps further than you may think. Take a look at some of these interesting and unique ways in which fellow connie lovers celebrate these iconic shoes.
Converse Construction
Next time you have some left over tuna tins and baked bean cans you should think again before chucking them out. The image below is from the annual design competition by the most unique food charity in the world. Leading figures within architecture, engineering and design firms each pitch their talents by transforming unopened cans of food into remarkable structures. This colour coded to a tee Converse All Star is one of the most famous constructions to come out of the Canstruction Competition.
The designers included the finest of details using the food cans to represent the thick rubber sole, metal eyelets and a Chuck Taylor logo. Unfortunately this canned Converse shoe had to be broken down, but it was all for a brilliant cause, as all the tins were distributed across New York’s less fortunate hungry homeless citizens.
Outrageous Converse Tattoo
I’m a man who loves his Converse shoes, I’ve been wearing different ranges pretty much all my life – some of my friends even say that I’ll be buried wearing a pair of Chucks. Hold up! This guy is literally going to be wearing Converse when he dies.
This has to be the most elaborate, ridiculous and painful Converse ‘shout out’ I’ve ever seen. People say that foot tattoos are one of the most painful going, how he kept his nerve on this one I’ll never know but credit to his bravery and props to the artist for doing such a detailed Converse design that looks uncanny to the real thing!
Converse Cupcakes
Saying that you’ve got some ‘sweet’ Converse’s has never
been more apt. Whenever I buy a new pair of Converse trainers they sometimes
look so clean, so bold and so cool that I just want to soak my teeth into them.
My only deterrent is the fact that they’re inedible but these little cuties
have helped me reconsider.
These Converse cupcakes show off the baking and decorating talents of someone with a hunger to feast on fashion. The intricate detail on the icing is flabbergasting, they use all the original Converse designs to let everyone know what footwear you’re referencing. These are the only Converse shoes I wouldn’t like to step in (on).
Converse Stepping On Walls
Just like many big brands that have made some sort of impact on popular culture you're bound to find references to the brand now and again. In some German streets you can find a brilliant Converse campaign that use just a few recognisable features to highlight the footwear's importance. This campaign was called BTL (Below The Line).
These two pieces of Converse wall art displays just enough to showcase the notorious brand. These brilliant pieces of German decoration make these everyday locations seem that bit more interesting. Big up to the BTL campaign crew for delivering these creative pieces of Converse art.
We've reached the end of my first ever post on the Reaching Out To The Converse Generation Blog. If you've liked what you've seen then stick around for next time, I also welcome you to share my pages to keep the Converse community stepping on this legendary journey!
